Kidambi Srikanth registered another record to his name. Srikanth created history as he became the first Indian player in the badminton to win four Superseries titles in a year after he won the men's individual title at the French Open on Sunday. He defeated Japan's Kenta Nishimoto 21-14, 21-13 in the final to achieve this feat. Last night win helped the eighth germ Indian to improve his head-to-head statistics against the unseeded Japanese to 2-0. Srikanth struggled in the early stages of the first game with the Japanese taking a 9-5 lead. The Indian Badminton star made a strong comeback to force the lead at 11-9 which was behind of him around four points. The Srikant did not look back from there, going on to win the opening game.
Srikanth conquered the second game right from the beginning when Srikanth taking a massive 10-5 lead. He held on to the advantage to win the game easily. This win further adds on to the Indian's list of firsts as he also became the only Indian to win the French Open since it became a Superseries event in 2007. He is also likely to rise to a career-best number two in the world rankings that will come out on Thursday. He is now only the fourth player after Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long to win four or more men's singles Superseries titles in a calendar year.
