Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram is a beautiful city spread across steep mountain ranges, hills and valleys. This city is 1132 m above from sea level and is surrounded by the majestic peaks of Durraltang. 

The river that flows here for many years enhances the beauty of Aizawl. It is a fast-growing city with many multi-storeyed buildings. Since it is the fastest growing city of Mizoram, its structural expansion is today's primary requirement.

Land of Mizo: Mizoram literally means the land of Mizo while Mizo means Highlands. One of the smallest states in the country, the international border of Mizoram meets with Myanmar and Bangladesh while its inter-state borders meet Assam, Tripura, and Manipur. Before being declared a state in 1987, it was a union territory. It is believed that Mizo is basically Mongolian and has been living in these hills for centuries. 

Mizo's tradition and culture: Traditionally Mizo lives in an agricultural society and hence most of their cultural practices revolve around cutting and other agricultural practices. Over the centuries Mizos are cultivating zoom which is a type of slash and burn farming. Mim Kut and Paul Kut are the two main cropped festivals of Mizo, which are celebrated in the months of August-September and December-January, respectively. Mizo is famous for his particularly Cheraw dance (rhythmic dance using bamboo batches). These cultural aspects make Aizawl a tourist spot. 

Tourist places in and around Aizawl: There are many tourist sites in the city of Durg, Aizawl. Since Aizawl tourism can still be in its infancy, but there are many tourist sites in the vicinity of it, which are exciting and amazing. Journey to Aizawl is incomplete without seeing the Greenland river flowing beneath the valley in the west of the city. Talong river is on the western border of the city and the Tural river-valley creates such a grand picture in the east. Boat rides on Tapdil Lake are a major attraction, which is not far from the city. If you are interested in fishing, Chittoopui river in Siwa is a great place. Journey to Aizawl remains incomplete without seeing the highest Varanthang waterfall of Mizoram which is falling from an altitude of 750 feet. Fong put is the highest peak of Mizoram and it is famous for orchid, rhododendron and mountain goats and butterflies. 

Aizawl Weather: The average temperature in summer is 20 to 29 degrees. While it is reached down to 7 degrees in winter. The annual rainfall of 254 cm is recorded in Aizawl every year.
