Alia Bhatt was reportedly approached for the role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Anand L. Rai's next film. The same role for which Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif were also considered.

Although Alia has chosen to be out of the movie and in an interesting way.

Says the source, "Alia approached her mentor and best friend of Shahrukh, Karan Johar. Karan insisted that she go to Mannat with her manager. At the meeting, Alia presented her entire calendar and asked him to choose dates that either suited him or excuse her from the project itself. Shah Rukh was glad that Alia had taken the initiative to explain her situation to him."
