The Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) on Thursday night cancelled the licence of a petrol pump allotted to Bihar's health minister and RJD leader Lalu Prasad's son Tej Pratap Yadav.
The reason is being attributed “irregularities in acquiring land for the pump”. The opposition BJP has demanded that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar immediately sack the Minister from the Cabinet.
This action has further added to the woes of Lalu and his family who are facing a string of corruption charges related to amassing properties through Benami transactions.
The officer, who did not wished to be quoted, said the oil firm’s Patna office was in the process of obtaining the “required approval for the next appropriate action” in the matter from its headquarters. The process was likely to take between 24 to 48 hours, he said.
“We are also exploring alternative measures to continue the services of the petrol station, given its strategic location and not to cause any inconvenience to the public,” he said, adding, everything would be done in accordance with the set norms.
