Ford chose India as the Production Hub for its new 'Dragon Family' petrol engine. According to media reports, the first model that comes with this new engine will be the facelift version of Ford Ecosocial. Ford can do a complimentary announcement about this car in the coming days.
Initially Dragon family will have 1.5 litres and 1.2 litres of 3 cylinder engines. It will generate power of 120 PS and it will be installed in 2017 Ford ecosport. These engines will be installed in Ford's hatchback and sedan cars by 2020 on the B563 platform. The 1.2-liter engine can be upgraded by placing it in small cars such as the Ford Figo and Aspire.
In addition to the new engines, facelift models of Ford EcoSportort will be given a re-designed front end and upgraded interior. Talking about the features, it will have an 8 inch touchscreen which will come with the SYNC3 support. This updated model of Ford ECOSport can be launched in October this year. It can be launched in India on September 15.
