Filmfare Award was criticized for not nominating Akshay Kumar and Airlift in any category. His excellent work in Airlift was completely ignored and no mention of the two could be seen anywhere in the nominations.

Akshay was asked about the saying of Kareena, he said, "She said that? I thought it was a secret. I told her to never say about it. I have to have her word with her. I just said ‘keep on working, don’t think so much. If you don’t get any award, just think that you’ve got the reward and carry on’."
