The counting for crucial Nanded Municipal Corporation Election is going on today. Stakes are quite high for the ruling party around India BJP, the non-ruling party Congress, and Shiv Sena. Polling was held on Wednesday. Voting for the Nanded Waghala municipality witnessed 60 percent turnout yesterday. While Congress, which is controlling the municipality, seeks to retain the civic body, the ruling party in the state and the Centre BJP has gone all out to wrest control. It is a high-stakes battle for the ruling BJP and the Congress in Nanded. Although a Congress stronghold for the last one and half decade’s, this time Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed a high-pitched rally in Nanded days before the polling and targeted the Congress and the Shiv Sena.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan is forefront the Congress. On the other hand, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has led BJP’s poll high-decibel election campaign. Last time, out of the total 81 seats, the Congress had won 41 wards. Shiv Sena with 12 seats was a distant second, followed by the All India Majlis-e-Muslimeen with 11 seats. The BJP, on the other hand, had managed to secure just two seats. Out of 81 seats, 41 seats are reserved for women candidates, 15 seats for SC candidates, 2 for ST and 22 seats for Backward Class communities. A total of 578 candidates are in the poll fray. Results will be declared today.
