May 11 is a very special day for Developing India. Since 1999, the day has become very special for our country. The day is marked with golden words in the history of India as on this day, India has seen many advancement in the field of technology. So since 1999, the day is celebrated as National Technology Day in India to celebrate the advancement in technology.
India's achievements that make this day special and give us the reason to celebrate the day as National Technology Day:
1. Hansa 3:
The first Indian indigenous aircraft was tested on May 11 in 1998. In Bengaluru, the aircraft which was first of its kind was successfully tested.
2. Trishul:
A short range missile made in India was successfully tested on the same day. Defence research and development organisation developed this integrated missile.
3. Nuclear State:
On May 11 and 13, total 5 nuclear bombs were tested in Pokhran at Rajasthan that made India a Nuclear State in world. There were 3 nuclear bombs tested on 11 and 2 tested successfully on 13. The then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared India as Nuclear State.
4. On the big day of National Technology Day, the achievers and contributors to technology are awarded by the Technology Development Board Of India every year.
5. The theme for the last year National Technology Day was 'Technology enablers of Startup India'.
How this National Festival is celebrated in country:
# On this day, in schools or in colleges, many events are held based on technologies.
# Many lectures, competitions are also held.
# President of India gives the National Technology Award for the contribution of individual in the field of technology.
# The day offers the students to visit science laboratories, technology development centre, computer labs on this day.
