In the ongoing Japan Open Superseries, the Indian player H.S. Prannoy in the men's singles quarterfinal match in Tokyo on Friday suffered a defeat in front of China's Shi Yuqi. The player from China beat Prannoy by 15-21, 14-21 in a clash that lasted for 45 minutes.

To reach the third round Prannoy had previously defeated Anders Antonsen and Hsu Jen Hao. The player Kidambi Srikanth later in the day will have a face-off with World champion Viktor Axelsen and it's a hope that he wins the match to move forward in the tournament.

Yesterday, the Indian player Saina Nehwal lost a match to Rio Olympic gold medallist Carolina Marin. Due to which she was crashed out of the Japan Open Super Series. Earlier, in a day on Thursday, the Rio-Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu lost to Nozomi Okuhara by 18-21 8-21 because of which she was also out of the tournament.

With both these players out of Japan Open Super Series, there were no Indian left in the women's singles draw anymore.

In the mixed doubles event, the Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa also crashed out of the tournament after suffering a 27-29, 21-16, 12-21 defeat against the Indonesia pair of Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto.
