Mr Panneerselvam stepped down, Sasikala can become the CM

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr Panneerselvam stepped down on Sunday. He had cleared the roads for becoming the Chief Minister now for VK Sasikala. He proposed her name in the MLA’s meeting in Chennai and she was unanimously elected as the Legislative Party Leader.

 After the Death of Jayalalitha, Ms Sasikala was elected as the party’s general secretary in December last year. She took charge of the post on December 31, pledging to take forward the legacy of Jayalalitha.

On Friday 3 February 2017, Sasikala had appointed senior leaders, including some former Ministers and a former Mayor, to key party posts. Former Ministers K A Sengottaiyan, S Gokula Indira and B V Ramana, besides ex- Mayor Saidai Duraisamy were made the AIDMK’s Organization Secretaries.
