The batch of petitions filed by state governments on modification of the order banning liquor shops within 500 metres of State and National Highways across the country today will be heard by the Supreme court.
The bench of Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and S.K. Kaul yesterday was told by Mukul Rohatgi, the Attorney General that its December 2016 order would come into effect on April 1 and thus urged for the urgent hearing on the issue.
For the modification in the order the states Kerala, Punjab and Telangana approached the court.
