Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Naam Shabana' is a prequel to the movie 'Baby' which was released in year 2015. In film Baby, Akshay Kumar was seen in the lead role but in this spin off, Taapsee takes the lead of the film. Akshay appreciates the work of Taapsee on social media.

Akshay wrote on Twitter: "Today is the day I stand behind this woman...the Real Hero of #NaamShabana. Discover the hero in each one of you, a Shabana! Out Today."

Taapsee too replied: "Thankq for all the support @akshaykumar sir."

Taapsee on being asked if promoting the film with Akshay bothered her, "He is a big star, of course. See, you need to be practical in marketing a film. He is a huge star and there is no denying. Yes, people who follow him know the fact that he does not have the same role and coverage that he got in Baby but we need to attract the attention of people towards it [the movie. The amount of fan base that he has what’s the harm in saying that he is a part of the film, he is a part-producer of the film, he has strong belief in the film, and if that is the reason that will pull people to the theatres then let it be because eventually, they will be happy or sad after what they see onscreen," she said.
