In the US Open the Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams on a winning note as she thrashed Slovakia's Viktoria Kuzmova to reach to the second round of the women's singles event.
Williams defeated her opponent by 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in a clash that lasted for one hour and 43 minutes.
"She played amazing. She played well, served well, competed well. Definitely a match I had to earn," Venus said following the match.
