The refrigerator is a necessity in every household. It keeps certain food fresh, but did you know the cold air from the fridge has a negative effect on some of the healthy foods. Try to keep these foods out or consume as soon as possible.
TOMATOES
The cool air breaks down the cell walls of the tomato and causes them to become all soft and mushy. Try keeping them at a room temperature away from sunlight.
EGGS
We all have that place in the refrigerator where the eggs are kept. But the best way to store them is outside the fridge at room temperature. Try consuming eggs within a week.
SWEET POTATOES
The starch present in potatoes turn to sugar, disrupting their flavor and texture. In addition to this, these chemical changes can potentially create havoc on your digestion.
HOT SAUCE
Sauces contain preservatives. Hot sauce has plenty of vinegar in it to prevent any bacterial growth. Room temperature is good.
BREAD
Freezing bread preserves the texture, but then you need to keep it out for some time before consuming it. Try consuming your bread before the expiry date.
COFFEE
Cold coffee tastes amazing but coffee beans and ground coffee should be stored well. Refrigerating coffee can affect the beans. Store the coffee in an airtight container in a dry place.
NUTS
Cold temperature prevents all the natural oils in the nuts from going rancid, but the cool air can stifle the nutty flavor. Store in an airtight container.
