Thanjavur: An eight-year-old boy lost his life when a fire-cracker with which he was playing went off. In the incident, his friend suffered injuries as per said by police.

The police as per the sources news said "The incident occurred last evening when the victim M Keerthivasan and his friend M Yogesh (7) of Mullainagar, were playing at the Kudamuruti river bed"

He further added that "The duo stumbled upon a fire cracker, which suddenly burst to cause serious injuries to both"

Both the victims were taken to the hospital where doctors declared Keerthivasan dead. The police have registered a case.
