A couple of weeks ahead of the halting the production of the Bharat Standard (BS3) compliant vehicles, Indian companies are facing the ambiguity in understanding the new norm. As per the reports, the majority of the company are thinking that BS3 sales will continue after March 31st, while the supreme court has denied continuing the sale and production of the BS3 vehicles.
Erich Nesselhauf, MD & CEO of Daimler India said in a statement, "Continuing discussions on BS4 are reflecting obvious attempts of some players in the commercial vehicle industry to dilute this upcoming transition of emissions standards."
Pawan Goenka Managing Director of the M&M said, "How is it possible to discontinue their sale and registration?
What do I do with the inventory? We are too late in the game to be talking about a change. The rule is clear. There should not be the manufacturing of BS3 vehicles from April 1. It never bars their sale.“
