Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) are suffering from the loss, to cover this and to keep running telecom firms the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) making plans to merge both the companies.
DoT secretary J S Deepak, gave a statement while talking about the merge, "We are working on a plan… I would not say that we have a plan of merging these companies in phases.”
Deepak further added, "The experience of Air India and Indian Airlines, which you have pointed out, is something before us, which is not a happy experience, but we realized that there would be some synergy in the merger.”
