Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) have urged to the Department of Telecom related to the quality of handsets. As per the reports, COAI asked DoT to look after the quality of mobiles.
The initiative is taken under "urgent policy intervention", relating to the service and duty provided by the companies. As per the reports, "The role of devices in issue of service quality and call drops has not been considered adequately.”
COAI claims, "Massive influx of untested and uncertified smartphones (more than 10,000 models in India) due to design variations introduced by the device manufacturers."
