Baby wipes seem to be the most convenient thing when it comes to cleaning up your baby, right? But you need to think about it again! I bet you use it to clean off sticky hands and faces too. But have you ever wondered if those wipes are safe for your baby?

More and more research shows that baby wipes are not the best thing for you little one. Some doctors recommend parents to stop using baby wipes entirely because of the risk attached with using it.

According to NBC News, a study has surfaced that confirms baby wipes are not at all safe due to one key ingredient. The results showed that children ended up having a reaction that left them feeling itchy, and red-rashed.

Dr. Mary Wu Chang, who was the co-author of the study found six unique reactions that were associated with baby wipes.

An eight-year old girl had ended up having a sever rash on her buttocks and around her mouth. Dr. Chang asked the mother what was she using to clean her baby and the mother confirmed it was baby wipes. It was found that a  chemical preservation called methylisothiazolinone had caused the problem because the girl was found to be allergic to it. The mother was asked to stop using the wipes and the rash disappeared.

Methylisothiazolinone has been found in many popular brands such as Johnson & Johnson and Huggies. Now, since this chemical is creating a health and safety issue the companies are reconsidering adding this chemical to their products.
