What causes Walking Pneumonia?
There is a very thin line that separates common cold and walking pneumonia. It is a milder form of pneumonia that usually would clear up on its own. It is caused by a tiny bacterium -- Mycoplasma pneumoniae, that thrives in the the nose, windpipe, throat and lungs. It tends to cause an inflammation in the lungs .
The symptoms usually are like a common cold -- stuffy nose, scratchy throat, body pain, headaches and muscle soreness. This is the reason it goes unnoticed as people brush it off like common cold
Complications
Though it is harmless, walking pneumonia is an airborne disease and can spread through coughing, and sneezing. It is contagious and can spread around soon. Some serious complications of walking pneumonia are kidney problems and skin infections though these serious complications are rare.
Treatments
It is usually treated with antibiotics. Getting the right diagnosis is important because walking pneumonia can get linger on for even a month. You can also try out some herbal remedies, Ayurveda and yoga!
