NASA is working on its laser technology, to enhance the efficiency of the space connection and enable higher data sets. The Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD) method can help the space agency to work on their technology.

Steve Jurczyk Mission Directorate of NASA’s Space Technology, "LCRD is the next step in implementing NASA’s vision of using optical communications for both near-Earth and deep space missions."

Laser communications are also known as optical communications, this method encodes the data in the form of the beam. This the laser transmission method, which is commonly done between Earth and spacecraft.
