NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi rolled out a series of schemes for the country’s economically backward sections on New Year’s eve, ranging from housing loans for the rural poor to a substantial hike in credit guarantee for small entrepreneurs and financial assistance for pregnant women in his first televised addressed since November 8.
However, Opposition seems not happy with announcement of slew of measure for the welfare of farmers rural and urban poor, senior citizens and pregnant women.
Opposition takes no time to take dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Here is what the opposition leaders had to say about PM Modi's address to the country:
Soon after PM's announcement, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah tweets: That's the budget 2017-18 done & dusted.
Congress’s RS Surjewala says “no deadline, only headline’ has become the PM’s character. Disappointed with the PM’s speech, he says, adding that many questions were left unanswered”.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee says Modi’s address to the nation became a budget address.
However, Union home minister Rajnath Singh says the PM has “once again made it clear that the NDA govt is dedicated to the welfare of poor and weaker sections of the society”.
