Veteran leader of Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav and the forward player of the rebelling faction Ramgopal Yadav today gave statements to the media, which once again washed out the hopes of re-union of the confronting factions of the party.

Mulayam Singh stated to the media that still he is the National President of the party and his son Akhilesh is only the CM of UP. He added that Ramgopal Yadav has been expelled from the party so the national convention called by him was in-constitutional and all the decisions taken there are also not constitutional as per the party’s constitution. In other words, he said that the state of the party leaders is same as it was before the rise of tensions between the two factions; including the position of Shivpal Singh Yadav as the state president.

On the other side, Ramgopal Yadav countered the statements of Mulayam Singh and said that we all are united with Akhilesh Yadav and majority of party leaders are with us. Hence, all the decisions of the national convention are valid and we will fight the elections ignoring the conflict.

In reply to the question about the poll symbol, he said that ‘Face of Akhilesh Yadav is our main symbol and people will vote for his face. He added ‘Cycle’ will remain with us, but even if we won’t get it we are ready to fight on any symbol.
