Jitu Rai, Asian Games and World Championships silver medallist, secured a medal for India in the underway ISSF World Cup. Though late but he clinched the bronze medal in 10-metre air pistol event at Karni Singh Ranges on Tuesday, February 28.
On the start, the bronze medallist was facing a bottom line but somehow he managed to strike with 2167 points to come into the medal contention.
On clinching the bronze medal, the athlete said, "I didn't expect this kind of final. I was at the bottom in the final due to some bad shots. But I promised myself that I have to fight till the end. I was determined and positive. I took one shot at a time and finally it paid off."
Gold medal position was secured by Tomoyuki Matsuda from Japan and Xuan Vinh Hoang from Vietnam claimed the silver medal.
