12 deaths reported in Russia's airstrike on Ukraine's regional Admin building

KIEV: According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's press office, a Russian attack on a regional administrative building in Ukraine's southeastern city of Mykolayiv killed at least 12 persons and injured 33 others.

The bombing, which occurred at approximately 8.45 a.m. local time (0545 GMT), demolished the core section of the nine-story building, according to the ministry, as per reports. Following the attack, 18 individuals were rescued from the rubble, according to the ministry.According to the government, a search and rescue operation is underway.

As the war in Ukraine enters its fifth week, Russia announced on Tuesday that military actions around Kyiv and Chernihiv will be drastically reduced. Despite Russia's announcement to pull up military operations, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that his country will not reduce its defence efforts.

Thousands of civilians have died in Ukraine since the conflict began on February 24, and nearly four million have fled the country. The United Nations has started working on arranging a humanitarian cease-fire in Ukraine to allow aid to be delivered and clear the way for real political talks to resolve the conflict.
