Indian Army to set up more than dozen integrated battle groups by 2020

New Delhi: The Indian Army will now insist on making smaller formations instead of larger formations under the new strategy. By the end of 2020, 13 IBGs (Integrated Battle Groups) of the Indian Army will be ready. Of these, 4 will be placed on the Pakistan border and the remaining 9 on the Chinese border. The IBG will be smaller than a division of the army, but larger than a brigade.

Significantly, the Integrated Battle Groups are part of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat's plan in which the Army is being restructured. It is believed that now wars will be fought to achieve the target set at a very fast pace. The duration of these wars will also be quite short because international pressure will not allow the war to last for long. At present, the Indian Army Corps is divided into divisions and brigades.

The brigade consists of three battalions, three brigades in division and usually three divisions in the corps. Giving information, an army officer has stated, "The core is required to penetrate the enemy's territory more, but it is better to occupy a low but large area rather than going in. Integrated betel Formations like groups are very effective. "
