Patna: The administration has decided to close 138 coaching centres in Patna, the capital of Bihar. On Tuesday, Patna Collector Dr. Under the chairmanship of Chandrashekhar Singh, a meeting of the District Coaching Institute Registration Committee was held under the Bihar Coaching Institute (Control and Regulation) Act, 2010 in the Collectorate Hall. This decision regarding coaching was taken in this meeting. With this, the district education officer said that a total of 609 applications were received for registration of coaching in the past. Under this, 287 coaching institutes have been registered. 111 coaching centres were rejected after an investigation finding them ineligible and serving a closure notice. Out of the remaining 211 applications, 153 applications were considered. Out of these, 126 coaching centres were sanctioned for registration and 27 were found to be ineligible, In this way, the Committee approved 413 applications and rejected 138 applications under the Act. The 138 coaching centres found to be ineligible have been directed to close down by sending notices, otherwise, under Section 6 of the Act, they will be fined ranging from Rs.25,000/- to Rs.1,00,000/- and other legal action. The district education officer said that 353 applications for registration were received again, which are under examination. Collector Dr Singh has asked for an inquiry report to be submitted within two weeks so that a decision can be taken in the next meeting.
