International Olympic Committee session may begin in Athens on 2025

The International Olympic Committee IOC has elected Athens as host for its 138th season in 2025. The current session of the IOC cannot be held in the Greek capital because of covid-19. According to media reports, the IOC said in a statement that in its virtual meeting on Thursday, the proposal is to be unanimously allowed.

The election of the new IOC president will take place in the 2025 session when the second and final term of Thomas Bach ends. Bach was re-elected on Wednesday. The next IOC season is also scheduled ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

German lawyer Bach, the 9th president of the IOC, will hold this position until 2025. Bach was also the President of the IOC earlier, who worked in a challenging situation like the covid-19 era. 66-year-old Bach, who won an Olympic gold medal in fencing, became a member of the IOC at the age of 37 and was a vice-president for 11 years before becoming president.
