First Indian woman cricketer to complete 10,000 runs

The First Indian woman cricketer Mithali Raj to complete 10,000 runs who has been the helm of Indian women's cricket for more than two decades, has become India's first and second female cricketer in the world to complete 10,000 runs in international cricket on Friday. Mithali achieved this feat as she completed her 35th run in the third ODI against South Africa. She now has 10,001 runs in international cricket to her name and her average is 46.73.

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) while congratulating her on her achievement said, 'What a great cricketer. Many congratulations to Mithali Raj, the first Indian woman batsman to complete 10,000 runs in international cricket.' England's Charlotte Edwards achieved this feat before this 38-year-old Indian batsman. She scored 10,273 runs in 309 matches in her international career.

Mithali, playing her 311th international match, made her international debut for India in ODIs in June 1999. She has so far scored 663 runs in 10 Tests at an average of 51.00. 6,974 runs from 212 matches at an average of 50.53 in 212 matches, and 2,364 runs from 89 matches at T20 International at an average of 37.52. She has set a record 75 fifties and eight centuries in her career. Of these, she has scored 54 half-centuries and seven centuries in ODIs. In Tests, She scored the only century (214 runs) against England at Totten in 2002.
