Sourav Ganguly, a cricketing legend and one of India's most successful captains, has been appointed as the Director of Cricket for JSW Sports. In his new role, Ganguly will oversee all cricket operations for JSW Sports, including the Delhi Capitals men’s IPL and women’s WPL teams, as well as the Pretoria Capitals in South Africa's SA20 League.

Parth Jindal, Chairman of JSW Sports, expressed his excitement over the appointment, praising Ganguly as one of the "sharpest brains" in cricket. Jindal shared, “Dada has always held a special place at JSW Sports. He is not just a cricket icon but part of our family. We are thrilled to have him lead our cricketing endeavors.”

Ganguly, speaking on his new position, said he is eager to contribute his vast cricketing knowledge to the projects of JSW Sports. “I’ve known the JSW Group and the Jindal family for a long time, both personally and professionally. JSW Sports is engaged in visionary work, and I’m excited to bring my experience to their cricketing ventures,” Ganguly said.

After retiring from playing, Ganguly has remained deeply involved in the sport, including his tenure as BCCI president from 2019 to 2022. He first joined Delhi Capitals in 2019 as an advisor, working alongside former head coach Ricky Ponting. He later transitioned to the role of Director of Cricket for the team.

As the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction approaches, Delhi Capitals is looking to revamp its team for the upcoming season. With the recent departure of head coach Ricky Ponting and the non-renewal of assistant coach Praveen Amre's contract, the franchise is preparing to bring in fresh talent in hopes of securing its first IPL trophy.
