Chandigarh: A case of breaking the statue of Jesus Christ has come to light in Ambala, Haryana on Sunday. The statue was installed at the entrance of the Holy Redeemer Church built in the British era. Father Patras Mundu, the pastor of the church, has said that this church is centuries old and has historical importance. It was established in the 1840s. But such an incident has never happened here before.
It has come to light that two people have entered the church and demolished the statues. According to CCTV footage, two suspects have been seen entering here at 12.30 pm. This church was built 173 years ago. According to media reports, Patras Mundu reported that we had completed Christmas prayers by 9.30 pm and then the church was closed on time due to covid restrictions. By 10.30 pm the area was completely empty and the main gate was closed.
Father Mundu, who filed a complaint in the case, said, 'One of the accused was removing the light (threads), while the other was recording on the phone. He was talking to someone on the phone who was instructing them. The face of a suspect is clearly visible and it should not be difficult for the police to nab him.'
