Islamabad: Abdul Salam Bhuttawi, the top commander of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and a close aide of chief Hafiz Saeed, has died in a Pakistani jail, according to a media report. Many years later, Pakistan arrested him. Bhuttawi was accused of being involved in terror activities along with the brother-in-law of Lashkar founder and terrorist Hafiz Saeed. In August 2020, Bhuttawi was sentenced to 16 and a half years in prison. Bhuttawi was working as the LeT chief between 2002 and 2008 when Hafiz Saeed was detained by the Pakistan police. Bhuttawi's death was announced late Monday night by several organisations linked to the terror group.
