26 people taken into custody in connection with vandalisation of a Hindu temple, Video goes viral

Peshawar: 26 people have been taken into police custody in connection with vandalisation of a Hindu temple in northwest Pakistan. Those arrested belong to a radical Islamist party. The video of the unfortunate incident, which took place at Terri village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Karak district, is going viral on the internet.

The mob had also set the temple, which was built before 1920, on fire. Among those who have been arrested is a central leader of radical Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party, Rehmat Salam Khattak. Led by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party (Fazal ur Rehman group) supporters, the crowd protested against the temple’s expansion work and demolished the newly-built work alongside the old structure.

The video has been shared by the Twitter handle of Voice of Pakistan Minority. The Tweet reads, Latest visuals from KPK, an extremist mob of Muslims are burning and razing down a #Hindu temple in Karak. The reason is unknown but look at the hatred they have towards the religious minorities. A little argument is all it takes here to destroy the lives of minorities."
