3 arrested in Mizoram, heroin worth over Rs 8 lakh seized

Excise and narcotics department arrested Three persons including a Myanmarese and seized 309 grams of heroin worth over Rs 8 lakh at different places in Mizoram. 

According to a statement by the Excise and narcotics department said on Thursday,  258 grams of heroin were seized at New Hruaikawn village in Champhai district bordering Myanmar on Wednesday at around 7:30 pm. In connection with the seizure, 33-year-old Vanbiakliana, a resident of Khawmawi village in Myanmar’s Chin state, was arrested. The three accused were booked under relevant sections of The Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition) Act, 2019.

In another operation, anti-narcotic squad seized 39 grams of heroin and arrested Lalchhantluangi of Chamari in Aizawl on Wednesday around 11:26 pm. The official also seized 12 grams of heroin and arrested one person identified as Lalhruaichhungi, a resident of Vaivakawn Zohnuai in Aizawl on Thursday. All the three accused were booked under relevant sections of The Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. 140 litres of Myanmar origin liquor (BEDC) siezed and arrested three people in connection with the seizure on Wednesday.
