'4 years for a soldier...', Captain Amarinder makes big statement on Agneepath scheme

Amritsar: Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, who has been opposing recruitment under the 'Agneepath' scheme in the Indian Armed Forces for four years, has now given the reason for it. He has said that this period is very short. At the same time, the Captain says that this arrangement will not work for the army. Singh was also part of the army between 1963 and 1966 before becoming a politician.

Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) chief Captain Amarinder said, "Four years of service is too little for a soldier. He expressed surprise at the government's decision to change the existing recruitment policy which has been working for so long. "Recruiting soldiers for four years with three years of effective service is not a good measure for the Army. During this time, he has also raised questions on the recruitment of all sections from all over India in the army. The Captain said that the Sikh Regiment, Dogra Regiment, Madras Regiment and so on have their own special nature, which is very important for the Army and which has been overlooked here. Singh said that the system which has been going on for so many years has done a great job.

At the same time, the former Punjab CM said that it will be very difficult for recruits coming from different cultural backgrounds to adapt to the atmosphere of a particular regiment and that too for a short period of time. "It will never be worthy of the work of the professional army, which faces challenges in the Eastern and West theatres. '
