58-Year-Old Man Killed in Delhi Police Vehicle Accident, cop arrested

 New Delhi: A 58-year-old man was fatally hit by a recklessly driven Delhi Police vehicle in the Sarojini Nagar area on Monday, according to the police.

A PCR call reporting the incident was received at 3:27 am at the Sarojini Nagar police station, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Rohit Meena.

"We received information that a Delhi Police vehicle was involved in the accident and one person was seriously injured," Meena said. A team was immediately dispatched to the scene near Bhikaji Cama Place Metro Station, where they found a damaged Delhi Police vehicle.

The man killed in the accident was later identified as Baijnath.

"An FIR has been registered, and the driver of the offending vehicle, Constable Pardeep Kumar, posted at Rajinder police station, has been arrested," the DCP stated.

Further investigation into the matter has been initiated, the police said, adding that Baijnath was a resident of Trilokpuri.
