Kolkata: Police have arrested six people, including the main accused, in connection with the bomb blast in Birbhum, West Bengal. A close aide of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was killed in a bomb blast last night after police from Margram police station conducted raids in various areas. The search for the accused began at night. Police of Margaram police station has informed that raids were conducted in different areas to find the accused. Five others, including Sujauddin, considered the main accused in the case, have been detained during the raid. A bomb blast was reported in Margram village of Birbhum district on Saturday night in which one person lost his life, police said, adding that Newton Shaikh, a close aide of TMC leader Laltu Sheikh, lost his life and several others were injured during the blast. Immediately after the incident, the injured were taken to Rampurhat sub-divisional hospital. As Laltu Sheikh's condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Burdwan Medical College Hospital. His condition remains critical. The initial impression of the police was that the targets of the bombs were Laltu and Newton. It is being considered a planned attack. The police are interrogating the arrested people and trying to get more information. After this bomb blast, the Left parties have claimed that it is the result of infighting in the TMC. Left leader Mohammed Salim has said, "Those who are leaving TMC are being killed by their own party men. TMC people are killing TMC and Mamata Banerjee is trying to cover up facts."
