Rampur: By-elections for the post of MLA are being held after Azam Khan's MP was elected in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. After the voting started, there have been reports of 6 fake polling agents being caught from there. Two fake polling agents have been arrested from Raza Degree College. One of them has described himself as Samajwadi Party (SP) and the other is associated with BJP. Confirming this, DM Anjaney Kumar Singh said that the fake polling agent is being questioned. Azam Khan has dominated the Rampur elections. He became MLA from Rampur for the first time in 1980. Since then Azam Khan has become MLA 9 times from here. Azam Khan, considered a senior SP leader in UP, also won the 2017 UP Assembly elections from here. In 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha elections and defeated Jaya Prada and reached Parliament when he vacated the MLA seat. In the ongoing by-election, the SP has given ticket to Azam Khan's wife Tazin Fatima. There are seven candidates in the race for MLA post in Rampur seat. Both SP and Azam Khan are fighting a battle to save their seats here by giving tickets to Tajine Fatima. BJP has fielded Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Congress Arshad Ali Khan Guddu and BSP from Jubair Masood Khan from here.
