72-year-old retired woman murdered in her house in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: In shocking news, a 72-year-old-woman was allegedly bludgeoned to death inside her house in Bhola Khera location of Krishnanagar in the wee hours on Tuesday.

The deceased identified as Madhubala Saxeana  was a retired bank employee who resided with her nephew Saujanya Sharan and his family, a trader. Her nephew said that Lalit Sonkar's associates, who are currently being detained as a result of a report made by him, killed the elderly relative.

According to Sharan's FIR, the assailants intended to visit his home to exact revenge on him but instead slipped into his aunt's room and attacked her while she cried out for assistance. Before entering the house, the three miscreants scaled the house's walls to get to the terrace.

He continued by saying that on May 17 of this year, while he was returning from his shop, Sonkar had fired shots at him. Police had taken the accused into custody after receiving a complaint.

"My aunt was in another room as I slept in our bedroom with my wife and daughter. She was pleading for aid around two in the morning. Three men were beating her with iron rods as we entered her room in a hurry. One of them made a gun threat against us. We hurried back to our room, locked it from the inside, and dialled U and our neighbours to ask for assistance. When they heard us calling for assistance, the criminals left the area" alleged Sharan.

ACP, Krishnanagar, according to Vinay Kumar Dwivedi "The moment a police car arrived at Sharan's home, the pair emerged from their room. The elderly woman was found head-first in a pool of blood in the adjacent room."

"The body has been sent for a post-mortem after the forensic team collected samples from the scene. we are  also reviewing the local CCTV material to confirm the claims Sharan has made" he added.
