Maharashtra: Earthquake tremors felt in Palghar

Palghar: Earthquake tremors were felt in Palghar district of Maharashtra within four hours on Friday and the intensity of earthquake tremors was recorded between 2.2 to 3.6 on the Ritcher Scale. While giving information, the officials said that earthquake shocks occurred in Dahanu and Talasari tehsils of the district. However, no casualty has been reported so far.

Vivekananda Kadam, head of the District Disaster Control Cell, has said, "A tremor of 3.5 magnitude earthquake was felt late Thursday at 3.29 pm. Subsequently, tremors of earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 and 3.6 were felt at 3.57 am and 7:00 am in the morning". Apart from this, five other earthquake tremors were felt between 3 pm and 7 am on Thursday night.

Kadam said that local tehsildars have been instructed to conduct inspections in villages. Mittal said that due to earthquakes, large tents have been set up in the open fields in the villages of these Tehsils so that the locals can go there if they feel insecure in the houses. In Dahanu and Talasari, after the earthquake tremors felt last week, the walls of many houses collapsed and many walls were cracked".
