NEW DELHI:With a starting price of Rs. 17 lakh, the Luxury (O) variant of the Carens was unveiled by South Korean automaker Kia Motors in India (ex-showroom). It is available with both petrol and diesel engines and sits between the Luxury and Luxury Plus trim levels in the MPV lineup. A single-pane sunroof and several drive modes connected to mood lighting are included. Since making its debut in February of last year, Kia Motors' Carens model has gained popularity in India. After arriving on our soil, the four-wheeler was able to secure over 50,000 reservations in a single month. The MPV also took home 2023's ICOTY, or Indian Car of the Year, title. It has sculpted bonnet, chrome-encircled grille, LED fog lamps, roof rails, ORVMs, blacked-out pillars, flared wheel arches, and 16-inch designer alloy wheels. It also has sleek LED headlights with split-style DRLs. A shark-fin antenna and connected LED taillights adorn the car's back end. The minimalist dashboard, perforated leatherette seating, air purifier, Bose audio system, and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included in the seven-seater cabin. Six airbags protect passengers, ensuring their safety. The 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine in the Kia Carens Luxury (O) trim level produces 157 hp and 253 nm, while the 1.5-liter diesel engine produces 113 hp and 250 nm. A 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 7-speed DCT gearbox is available for the transmission. With a price difference between the respective Luxury Plus trims of Rs. 1.45 lakh and Rs. 1.1 lakh, the new model provides many features found in the top-of-the-line model at a value that is generally favourable.
