Lucknow: A massive fire broke out at R Madhuraj Hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district on Wednesday morning, triggering a stampede among patients and staff admitted. Hospital operator Dr Rajan Singh, his son Rishi and daughter Shalu lost their lives in the fire. Police officials reached the spot as soon as the fire was reported. At present, the patients have been taken out and shifted to another hospital. On the same floor, hospital operator Dr Rajan, his father Gopichand, wife Madhuraj, daughter Shalu, sons Lavi and Rishi as well as relative Tejveer were present. When Gopichand and Lavi woke up at 5 am, they saw a fire in the mattressed room. He attempted to pull out the mattresses. By then, smoke from the fire reached the inside. Meanwhile, Dr Rajan closed the door from inside. After this, they were trapped inside along with the family. The smoke also reached the hospital below. Meanwhile, four admitted patients were safely evacuated and admitted to another hospital. It was too late by the time the firefighters arrived. Dr Rajan, his daughter Shalu and son Rishi are the three deaths confirmed so far. Elder son Lavi's condition is critical, and mother Madhuraj alias Rajrani is out of danger.
