NEW DELHI: Adani Data Network has been given a unified licence for access services, allowing it to offer all telecom services in the nation. After purchasing spectrum in the most recent 5G spectrum auction, Adani Group entered the telecom industry, two official sources confirmed.
"Adani Data Networks has been granted unified licence," an official source said. Another official said that the permit was granted on October 9th.
In the newly-acquired 5G spectrum, Adani Data Networks Ltd (ADNL), a division of Adani Enterprises Ltd, won the right to use 400MHz of spectrum in the 26GHz millimetre wave band for Rs. 212 crore over a 20-year period.
The Adani Group has earlier said that it intended to use the airwaves for both its data centres and the mega app it is developing to help industries ranging from gas retail to ports and energy delivery to airports.
According to a statement from the company, "The newly-acquired 5G spectrum is intended to help develop a unified digital platform that would expedite the pace and scope of the Adani group's digitisation of its core infrastructure, primary industry and B2C business portfolio."
For those who don't know, Adani Data Networks Ltd (ADNL) paid Rs 212 crore for the right to use 400MHz of spectrum in the 26GHz millimetre wave band for a period of 20 years. Back then, the company said that it intended to use the airwaves for both its data centres and the super app it was developing to help industries ranging from gas retail to ports and energy distribution to airports. The unified licence will now support the company's data centre operations as well.
