Lucknow: Following a directive from Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, the state government on Tuesday issued an order making approval mandatory for holding religious processions and marches etc. As per this new order, the organiser has to mandatorily give an affidavit before taking out a religious procession or parade. It may be mentioned that after the attack on the procession taken out by Hindus during Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti, the UP government has taken several precautionary measures. In view of the festivals, the holidays of all officers posted in the field of UP Police have been cancelled till May 4. The officers who have already gone on leave have been instructed to return to duty within 24 hours. Directing the officials through video conferencing late on Monday night, CM Yogi directed the police officials to take extra precautions on Eid and Akshaya Tritiya. Both festivals are expected to fall on the same day. The organiser has to give an affidavit to maintain peace and harmony before taking approval for the religious procession or march. The approval will be given only to traditional processions and parades, not to new events.
