Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has received a contract worth Rs 25,000 crore from the government related to various businesses including engineering. The contract is for the implementation of part of the ambitious bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. SN Subramaniam, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of L&T told the press persons during the announcement of the economic results on Wednesday, "We have received the largest and most prestigious contract till date (Wednesday) from the government". This is an order of Rs 25,000 crore by SN Subramaniam. This is the biggest contract for us. This is the largest single order for such a huge amount, which the government has given. He said that the project has to be completed in four years under the contract. It is worth noting that the National High-Speed Rail Corporation opened bids for about Rs 1.08 lakh crore for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Rail Project on 24 September. This includes part of the project falling in Gujarat. 7 bidders were found eligible for the 508 km long project. Mumbai can be reached from Ahmedabad by bullet train in two hours. About 47% of the corridor was placed in this tender, which is between Vapi to Vadodara in Gujarat. It consists of four stations Vapi, Biltmore, Surat and Bharuch and Surat Depo.
