The crucial Executive and the general council meeting of the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, the highest policy level decision taking body of the party, would be held in State Capital on January 9, 2021, even as party would launch the campaign for the Assembly polls on December 27. A joint statement by AIADMK Coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and Co-coordinator and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday has informed us about the meeting. All the executive and general council members were invited to attend the meeting with a COVID-19 certificate that they have tested negative, wearing face masks is mandatory and asked to follow physical distancing norms. The meeting which is delayed due to the pandemic is to be held at a marriage hall at suburban Vaanagaram on January nine, AIADMK sources said. The General Council was being called to ratify the decision of announcing EPS as the CM candidate during campaign and give its approval for the same. AIADMK party presidium chairman E Madhusudhananan would preside the meeting and ratify the formation of an 11-member steering committee constituted on October seven when the CM candidate was announced. EPS and OPS will kickstart the campaign for the TN Assembly elections 2021 by addressing a rally at YMCA grounds in the city on December 27 to ensure that the party record a hat-trick of wins and retain power.
