AIADMK leader Palaniswami to meet Amit Shah today

CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) interim general secretary and Ex-Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday, September 20.

After the contentious AIADMK general body on July 11, in which the former chief coordinator of the party, O. Panneerselvam, was expelled from the party, this is Palaniswami's first encounter with a senior BJP official. Palaniswami did not meet any prominent BJP leaders during his earlier trip to the nation's capital for the goodbye ceremony of former President Ramnath Kovind.

It should be remembered that the AIADMK is a member of the NDA in Tamil Nadu, and the BJP is attempting to bring together the party's Panneerselvam and Palaniswami factions. The BJP is also eager to have V.K. Sasikala, a former aide to the late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, as well as her nephew, the Chairman of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), rejoin the party.

O. Panneerselvam, the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu and ousted AIADMK leader, is in Varanasi for the religious rites of his wife, who passed away last year.
