BANGALORE: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR)  has warned people to be wary of forces trying to rip apart the secular fabric of society by dividing people along racial and religious lines, saying that such an endeavor serves neither the interests of the nation nor the State.

On September 17, KCR addressed a meeting in Hyderabad after raising the national flag, saying, "Telangana society has demonstrated great maturity in its agitation for statehood and it's time it shows the virtues one more time to rebut the attempts to alter the history and pollute the society with their selfish political motives."

Prior to that, he visited the Martyrs Memorial as part of the celebrations for National Integration Day, which the State Government organised to commemorate the joining of the Indian Union and the former Hyderabad State on September 17, 1948.

The Telangana society struggled for its rights and existence, and the Chief Minister recalled this battle, saying that such periods should never happen again because of constant awareness and careful study of external trends. In the State, he claimed, "communal forces were on the prowl and they were trying to stir passions with divisive language, toxic words, and trying to create thorny fences between individuals of different religions."

The Chief Minister said the national integration day was an extension of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the country's independence and that Telangana had become an integral part of the country after abolishing the monarch on this day in 1948.

He remembered the contributions made to Telangana society by Kumram Bheem, Ravi Narayana Reddy, Swamy Ramananda Tirtha, Sardar Jamalapuram Keshava Rao, Vattikota Alwar Swami, Chakali Ilamma, Bhimreddy Narsimha Reddy, Bommagani Dharma Bhiksham, Arutla Ramachandra Reddy-Kamaladevi, Devulpall.

The merger of Telangana with Andhra against the will of the people who live there to form Andhra Pradesh, according to the chief minister, has rekindled the demand for a distinct state. Telangana, which was created in 2014, has made rapid advancements in many welfare areas, including power, irrigation, health, education, and other fields, as well as in agriculture, information technology, businesses, and communities.

KCR urged to people not to patron the forces that were attempting to disturb peace and push the State into turmoil so that progress could go ahead smoothly.
