The existing alliance between AIADMK and BJP continues in the upcoming election, evident from the parties announcing their alliance well ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled in 2021. Inspite of that, BJP state unit has been in loggerheads with AIADMK over the issue of Chief Ministerial candidate, which has disappointed AIADMK. “We do not know what is the problem with L Murugan, state BJP President. Despite BJP confirming the alliance with AIADMK, he is making statements about the alliance. BJP will have to remove Murugan from the post of state president,” said AIADMK Spokesperson N Pugazhendi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Chennai after incumbent Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, was announced as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the ruling AIADMK.
