Akhilesh Yadav taken into police custody after he sits on dharna on road

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has taken into police custody on Monday morning and by afternoon he was arrested and taken away by Uttar Pradesh Police.

SP chief Akhilesh has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking to interfere in the matter, describing it as a matter of breach of privilege as an MP. Akhilesh Yadav was supposed to join the 'Kisan Yatra' in Kannauj today, but before that, the area around his house and party office was sealed by barricades. When Akhilesh left his house to go to Kannauj, the police stopped his vehicle.

Angered by this, former CM Akhilesh sat on a dharna. He was later detained and seated in a police van and taken to Eco garden. During the protest, Akhilesh told the press that, "This is the dictatorial attitude of the BJP. He has torn apart the Constitution. There is no corona for the BJP. Only for the opposition. There is no corona for the BJP to hold meetings and campaign anywhere in the country. The government wants to stifle democracy with the help of Corona. ''
